Product BAD September 4, 2010 sb 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Received Wagan 400-Watt Power Dome yesterday. Product was stated as new, package was obviously opened previously. Product faulty. Needed unit to go on Labor weekend...messed up. Watch out for BS return policies...
Mostly works, but still a few issues with the quality.. August 27, 2010 typhoto (Clearwater, FL United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought this item about 8 months ago, thinking it would be perfect to take along while camping and for the occasional random use around the house. It's super portable and it has been fairly handy the few times I've actually used it. However, I need to list two main problems:
1. The built-in LED flashlight has an array of 6 or so LEDs in a circle, but only the one LED in the middle actually lights up. It's fairly bright on its own, but still, the whole group really should light up. Not sure if everyone has this issue or if it's just mine.
2. The air compressor completely broke down last night, and it was only the second time I've even used the compressor. The weak metal piston shaft broke free from the piston head and the motor also stripped a tooth or two off the plastic main gear, so needless to say, that feature is useless now.
All the other features that I've tried so far have worked fine, and hopefully they'll continue to function properly for many years to come. It's still pretty handy to have around for most of my other "light duty" needs. However, I'll be sure to update my review if any additional issues arise.
Wagan Jumpstart with Compressor August 20, 2010 DE (Texas) I gave this item to my husband for Father's Day. He likes it because it is compact and has so many features all in one device. He was surprised at how fast the compressor filled a tire. The battery also easily jumpstarted his jeep.
seems pretty good, had it for a month August 19, 2010 Richard A. Walsh (San Francisco, CA.) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I got this because I wanted some back up for summer driving as well as home emergency power source. I used it at home to inflate some bike tires, works pretty good.
The 110 v powers vacuum cleaners, power tools and laptops, etc. no problem. The USB charges my cell phone pretty good.
I would like to know if you could recharge it with a solar trickle charger. Seems like it could work.
The one thing that is wrong (more embarrassing than anything) is that the label under the radio dial says "TUNNING"
Come on, people, spelling is not that hard...
First one was a flop, but the replacement seems to work August 14, 2010 Adam Kowal (Boston, MA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I wrote a really long review on this and hit submit and my review disappeared..I will try again only b/c someone has to know why I gave it 1 star...
The short version is that this device came very damaged..never seen anything like it for essentially a tool/piece of electronic equipment...I'd like to think that it got damaged in shipment...I would have kept it even damaged if it worked, because I don't really care what it looks like...but it didn't work.
A wierd part was that it didn't sit flat so I flipped it upside down to see what was on the bottom and something was bulging through the bottom..not a good thing on a huge battery. When I flipped it back over I could pieces of something shaking inside the device.
I got on to Amazon to get my return going and basically the site said "some items are considered hazardous and cannot be shipped to Amazon.com. Please contact your local government for disposal of hazardous materials" Hmmm...not good. So I contacted customer service and they sent me an RMA. So support was good...but what a hassle.
Quick Review:
1) radio did work, but the sound is pretty bad
2) flashlight did work, but equivalent to a pen light.
None of the "power charging parts" worked so it is too hard to say..
UPDATE as of Aug 24 - upgrading the rating to 3 stars...
They sent me a new one and I charged it for 36 hours. I tested it out and all the pieces seemed to work. 2 days later my wife's car battery died so i tried it out for real on her Honda Pilot SUV and the car started up right away. If it keeps working like this then it is worth it. I will note though that when I flipped it upside down it does sound like pieces of something are rattling around inside. Further, the plastic it is made of shows stress wear (white marking against the red). Still - I'll keep my fingers crossed.
